Process Disassembly

Stone and shadow carving base: Dark grey granite (Mohs hardness 6 – 7) is selected, and its uniform and fine mineral structure provides an ideal “canvas” for shadow carving. After CNC cutting to shape the natural original stone, diamond tools are used as pens to “control the grayscale by dotting density” on the stone surface: dense dotting forms dark shadows, sparse dotting presents light color layers, and constructs a “photo-like delicate” shadow carving picture, laying the foundation of light and shadow for life narrative.

Composite process presentation
- Shadow carving + original stone form: the natural outline of the stone (such as irregular edges and natural textures) is retained, and the shadow carving picture (people riding horses, wooden houses) is embedded in it to achieve the integration of “natural original stone and humanistic narrative” and strengthen the metaphor of “life comes from nature and returns to nature”;
- Shadow carving + three-dimensional symbols: key elements (such as cowboy boots) are carved in the round (protruding height 3-5cm), forming a spatial dialogue of “three-dimensional and two-dimensional” with the shadow carving plane, conveying “multi-dimensional layered sense of memory”;
- Surface protection: The entire surface is treated with a penetrating protective agent to preserve the delicate texture of the shadow sculpture while resisting environmental erosion, ensuring that the “light and shadow narrative” remains clear over a long period of time.
